Overview
The 300 series of soaring instruments is the ultimate modular, upgradeable soaring instrument family.  It offers a multitude of features in a very small package.  Below is a quick summary of the product family:

  • 302 Direct Digital Variometer with Integral GPS and IGC Approved Flight Logger
Direct Digital Variometer with audio and averager, Speed-to-fly director, Digital altimeter, Airspeed sensors, Outside air temperature probe, Inputs from landing gear and airbrakes provide a audible warnings for when the airbrakes are open on takeoff, and when the airbrakes are deployed while landing gear is raised, integral GPS receiver and IGC approved flight logger, provides 5 VDC output with enough current to power any Pocket PC.
  • 302A Flight Recorder -
Similar to a 302 but with the vario and airspeed inputs removed.  Great flight recorder.  Works well with the 303 as well.
  • 303 Navigational Display -
When used with a 302 or 302A it offers easy-to-use navigational directions (turn arrows), final glide (302 only), wind speed and direction (302 only) tasks, pilot and polar editing,
  • 306 Vario Repeater
Designed for use in two-seat gliders.  It displays the same information found on the connected 302.

Repairs and Calibrations
I (Paul Remde of Cumulus Soaring, Inc.) can replace logger backup batteries, re-seal the electronic security seal in GPS-NAV units (but not in 302 units), and calibrate the logger altimeters for all Cambridge GPS-NAV and 302 products. You can see details here: Services.

Garmin GPS Failures in Cambridge Products
Cambridge soaring instruments (and most other brands) used Garmin GPS engines which seem to have a bug such that they are failing. The issue has occurred to a very high percentage of Cambridge products. If yours hasn't failed, it probably will.  If your Cambridge flight recorder won't record a flight log, or records flights with a date from several years ago, your logger probably needs repair.  Unfortunately, no one is currently able to repair them.  Gary Kammerer offered that service in the past, but he's no longer supporting Cambridge products.

302 Direct Digital Variometer with GPS and IGC Approved Flight Logger

Overview

The 302 DDV is the ultimate soaring instrument.  It offers a multitude of features in a very small package.  The 302 is an extremely fast and sensitive variometer with audio and averager, an altimeter, a speed-to-fly director, a GPS with integral IGC approved flight logger, and much more.

Overview Video
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video with sound must be worth a million.  Below is a 13 minute overview of the Cambridge 300 Series Soaring Flight Instruments.  It allows you to see and hear all the functions of the 302.  It is a great way to see if it is the right vario for your glider.  Or, if you already own one, it is a good refresher course on how to use it.  If you find it useful then please buy from me.
