The Smart Way Home

The DG1001 has been by far the most versatile aircraft on the two-seater market for many years. Whether in training, on the track or in aerobatics - the DG1001 family has a solution for every application. After the positive experiences with the LS8e neo, we definitely wanted to be able to use its innovative drive in the DG1001. Together with a new outer wing and many detailed improvements, the DG1001E neo was created.

Brilliant combination

After the success of the LS8e neo with its simple yet ingenious FES drive, we thought about how this drive concept could be integrated into the DG1001. At the same time, we wanted to use our latest findings in the area of winglets and outer wings to further improve the flight characteristics. The DG1001E neo was created together with LZ Design from Slovenia. The world's first two-seater with FES in series production.

The FES can be activated and deactivated from both the front and the rear in a very short time. The infinitely variable control makes it possible to adjust the power of the drive depending on the situation.

At low altitude, you first climb with increased revs and a solid climb in the direction of the next thermal. At a safe altitude you reduce the power and fly on with about 8 kW. As soon as you have found a new climb, the drive can be deactivated within a few seconds. This is the most efficient way to use the energy.

Usually you get home or at least reach an airport. Outlandings are a thing of the past.

Keep it simple

The simple and ingenious functional principle, which has been used in model aircraft for many years, has been successfully transferred to gliders by LZ Design. Intuitive operation, easy handling and low maintenance make this system the first choice for auxiliary drives.

To activate the drive in flight, it is enough to flip the main switch and turn the speed controller on the control unit. The electric motor starts up almost immediately and delivers solid climbing. The propeller blades are unfolded by the centrifugal force.

To switch off the engine, it is sufficient to turn the speed controller back. The drive regulates the speed downwards and automatically levels the propeller blades again. The wind reliably puts the propeller against the fuselage. The process is completed when the main switch is switched off.

experience neo performance

The new outer wing with neo-winglet has been provided with new profiles from the point of separation. It gives more feedback in thermals and improves handling and climbing. The new design fits perfectly with the silhouette of the DG-1001 and underlines the sporty look.

Flexible like no other

The DG1001E neo was developed with a focus on cross country soaring. Therefore, the 20m neo outer wings are part of the series. But the aircraft can also be used for aerobatics and training.

In order to maintain the versatility of the DG1001, especially in the club, the aircraft with 17.2m ends can still be used in aerobatics. All you have to do is remove the FES batteries to meet the structure's weight limits.

Training with FES?

Many clubs are struggling with declining student and membership numbers. In order to counteract this development, rapid learning success is important. The faster the student pilot progresses, the higher the probability that he will complete the training and stay with the club. This is exactly where the DG1001E neo comes in.

Not every airfield has good thermal conditions. Many starts are often necessary to convey the important basics, especially at the beginning of the training.

With the DG1001E neo you have the opportunity to turn short circuit flights into extended school starts and to impart practical knowledge better. If you only use the FES for a short time at each start, it is easier to reach the thermals and you can train the exercises effectively. Even if there are no thermals on a weak day, you can maintain altitude and perform important exercises.

The result is increased learning success, more fun in training and a reduction in the duration of training.

Flying knows no borders!

The DG1001E neo can be equipped with a handicap system in its variant with electric retractable landing gear. The lever on the left side wall that is otherwise used for the manual retractable landing gear is used to operate the rudder and also enables people with disabilities to enjoy the beauty of our sport. The lever does not bother pilots without a handicap and can remain in the cockpit. An expansion is not necessary, which simplifies the use in the club with changing pilots.

Note: Many organizations and countries support handicap sport!
