UN - Mounting Adapter - 3-Function
The UN mounting adapter has 3 ports to accommodate triple probes which sense pitot, static and TE (Total Energy). Some sailplane manufacturers build the UN adapters into their aircraft, but most use the 20 mm longer, (but functionally identical) SUN (below) mounting adapter. Probes that work with the SUN mounting adapter also work with the UN mounting adapter. However, if probes that are designed for use with the SUN mounting adapter (such as carbon multiprobes MNIC/UN or DN/3-fach/UN) are used with a UN mounting adapter, the probe will work fine, but the collar on the probe will be located 20 mm from the tip of the mounting adapter. Therefore, the SUN mounting adapter is recommended for most applications. The UN should be used when the SUN is too long fit.

Two Versions
There are 2 slightly different length versions of the UN mounting adapter. Drawings for both lengths are shown at right.
