Overview
Mountain High makes a variety of constant flow oxygen systems.
They are not as efficient with oxygen as the EDS-D1 and O2D2 systems, but
they are good value.
BNC Systems
BNC Systems are designed to connect to an existing aircraft oxygen system.
They do not include oxygen cylinders or regulators. They are available
with several different types of BNC connectors for connecting to your
aircraft's oxygen system.
XCP Systems
The XCP (Cross Country Pilot) series is our most popular single to
multi-place, low cost carry-on oxygen system for general aviation. These
complete systems each include cylinder with CGA-540 valve with refill port
and pressure gauge, XCP 1 place regulator or 4-place FPR regulator for 2-
and 4-place systems, MH3 or MH4 flowmeter(s) (please specify), Oxymizer
cannula(s), face mask(s)and a 12X12 tote bag for each station. Also included
is our padded cylinder Full-Pack, a fully padded cylinder harness-caddy
carry-case for seat-back mounting.
XCR Systems
The XCR (Cross Country Racer) is a high-duration carry-on oxygen system
for multiple aviation uses. The XCP systems include everything found in the
XCP systems but add a very nice XCR control-holster with either a MH3 or MH4
flowmeter with remote on/off valve. It is designed to be strapped onto
your arm, leg, shoulder strap, or any convenient place. The remote
on/off valve makes it convenient to turn oxygen flow on or off without
changing the flow meter setting or accessing the oxygen cylinder's valve.
The XCR systems feature the AL series aluminum cylinders as standard issue.
The XCR is an excellent choice for the pilot who needs a small, wearable
system for Hang Gliding, Para Gliding, sailplane flying or any situation
where space is at a minimum and ease of use is a must. The XCR system is
comprised of the cylinder, the radial style primary reducing XCR regulator,
5 ft. of high-quality kink-proof 4mm OD polyurethane tubing, one XCR
control-holster with either a MH3 or MH4 flowmeter with remote on/off valve
and an "M" type Oxymizer oxygen conserving cannula. The system can be
strapped to your flight-suit or hang gliding harness. There are 'D' rings on
the corners of the pilot control harness/holster for mounting to an arm,
leg, shoulder-strap, uprights or almost any suitable object. All XCR systems
includes tote bag for the breathing station(s). XCR systems include
Oxymizer cannulas but do not
include a face mask for use above 18,000 feet. An XCR-F1 standard
face mask can be added for only $15 - it is compatible with MH4 flowmeters
but not MH3 flowmeters. Because XCR systems are generally used in
"strap on" applications, they are available in single person systems as
standard. Multiple place systems can also be configured upon request.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between the
XCR and XCP systems?
- They are very similar. XCP
regulators use CPC fittings while XCR regulators use 4 mm tubing
ports. The XCR
systems include everything found in the XCP systems (except the face
mask) but add a very nice XCR control-holster with either a MH3 or
MH4 flowmeter with remote on/off valve. It is designed to be
strapped onto your arm, leg, shoulder strap, or any convenient
place. The remote on/off valve makes it convenient to turn
oxygen flow on or off without changing the flow meter setting or
accessing the oxygen cylinder's valve. XCR systems include
Oxymizer cannulas but do not
include a face mask for use above 18,000 feet. An XCR-F1
standard face mask can be added for only $15 - it is compatible with

upgraded for use with EDS O2D1 or O2D2 systems. Because XCR

- What is the difference between the
MH3 and MH4 flow meters?
- The MH3 flowmeter is for use with an
Oxymizer cannula only. It is
calibrated for use up to 18,000 feet - no higher. The
Oxymizer is more efficient than a
standard cannula or face mask and allow the use of lower flow rates
which allow 2 to 3 times the duration of a
standard cannula or
standard face mask. The MH3
flow meter is popular in areas where the pilot will never exceed a
flight altitude of 18,000 feet. Since the MH3 is compatible
with the Oxymizer cannula only, it cannot be used with a standard
cannula or a face mask.
- The MH4 flow meter has two
altitude/flow scales. The left (compressed) scale is calibrated for
the
Oxymizer cannula and is limited to
flight levels of 18,000 ft. and below. The right scale is calibrated
for a
standard cannula and
standard face mask and is limited
to 25,000 ft. The right scale uses the standard flow rate of 1
liter/min. per 10,000 ft. The MH4 is popular with pilots that
anticipate flights above 18,000 feet. The only disadvantage of
the MH4 is that the left scale is compressed so that is less
accurate (than the MH3) for setting the flow rate with an
Oxymizer cannula.

Lead-time
I try to stock as many parts as possible so I can ship to you immediately
upon the receipt of your order. However, MH offers an extremely broad
range of products and kits so it is not possible for me to stock everything.
However, it is possible for MH to ship parts I don't have in stock directly
to you very quickly. That is good for you because you receive the
products quickly. It is good for me because it reduces the amount of
inventory I need to stock and also eliminates the cost of shipping the
products to me. The items marked "In Stock" below are almost always in
my stock here in Minnesota, USA. The items marked "1 Day" (or similar)
can be shipped directly from the vendor in Oregon, USA to you.

MH3 Flowmeter
For Oxymizer Cannula Only - 18,000 feet
The MH3 has an altitude/flow scale calibrated for the unique
Oxymizer oxygen-conserving cannula.
The scale is marked in 2,000 ft. increments for flight levels up to
18,000 ft. To receive the proper amount of oxygen, simply adjust the MH3
to where the scale reads the same altitude you are flying. Example: If
you are at 15,000 ft. you would hold the meter vertical and adjust the
needle valve on the MH3 to where the ball reads between the 14 and 16 on
the scale. Counter clock-wise increases and clock-wise decreases oxygen
flow. The outlet flow of the MH3 can be adjusted well beyond the limits
of the scale for emergency purposes.

Oxymizer Cannula - XCP
version
The Oxymizer's unique oxygen-conserving reservoir design accumulates
(saves) the continuous flow of oxygen normally wasted during exhalation.
The saved oxygen is available as a bonus at the very beginning of each
inhalation cycle where oxygen is taken deeper into the lungs, allowing a
much greater absorption efficiency. Thus, a smaller flow rate is
required over conventional cannulas saving your precious oxygen.
The Oxymizer's unique design closely emulates the function of much more
complicated and expensive diluter demand regulators. Tests have
show pilot using the Oxymizer need only 0.750 liter/minute at 18,000
feet to obtain more than 95% of saturated oxygen in the blood. A
standard cannula or facemask will require about 2 liters/min at 18,000
ft. The Oxymizer will properly oxygenate the blood using only 1/3
the oxygen needed by standard cannulas resulting in up to 66% of saved
oxygen.
The Oxymizer "M" type (moustache-style) oxygen-conserving cannula
(shown) is
the most popular version. Also available is the Oxymizer "P" or
pendant-style Oxymizer (not shown). The Oxymizer is standard issue with our XCR
and XCP constant flow systems and may work with almost any adjustable
constant flow regulator.
Note: The Oxymizer cannula is not compatible with any EDS
system.
This version of the Oxymizer includes a
female adapter that slides onto the male connector on the top of an MH3
or MH4 flowmeter.

XCP Complete
Portable Systems with Fiber Wrapped Cylinders |
The XCP
(Cross Country Pilot) series is our most popular single to
multi-place, low cost carry-on oxygen system for general aviation. These
complete systems each include cylinder with CGA-540 valve with refill
port and pressure gauge,
XCP-1P 1 place regulator or 4-place
FPR regulator for 2, 4 and
6-place systems, MH3 or
MH4 flowmeter(s) (please specify),
Oxymizer cannula(s),
XCP-F1 standard face mask(s) and a 12x12 tote bag for each
station. Also included is our padded cylinder
Tuff-Pack or
Full-Pack (a fully padded
cylinder harness-caddy carry-case for seat-back mounting). Also see XCP
systems with fiber cylinders for other oxygen system solutions. You can
add an additional XCP station at any time. You can add an
EDS-D1 or an O2D2
at any time as well.
