LX Navigation has been making popular soaring flight instruments for many
years. Recently, the company has been divided into two companies.
The original LX Navigation remains and still makes the Colibri, LX7007 and
other products. Some of the other products that had been made by
LX Navigation in the past (LX 8000)
have gone to the new LXNAV company. LXNAV
makes the LX 8000, LX 9000 and Nano.
In the past I sold many LX Navigation products such as the Colibri, LX16,
LX160, LX1600, LX7007, etc. I can still support those products, but
I am no longer selling them. I hope to be able to sell LX
Navigation products again sometime in the future. I do currently sell
products from LXNAV. I do sell adapter
cables and other accessories from LX Navigation below.
I have a few LX Navigation accessories listed below. Some are
generic parts (GPS antennas, power supplies, etc.), others are parts
purchased from LXNAV that work with LX Navigation products.

Goddard PS-5a to LX Navigation Colibri II - by Goddard
For connecting an LX Navigation Colibri II to a Goddard PS-5a power
converter. DB-9f at PS-5a end and mini-USB at Colibri II end. The PS-5a
provides 5V power for the Colibri II. The cable's DB-9f connector
housing has a built-in RS-232 to TTL data level converter which allows
the Colibri II to communicate with any PDA.
||Colibri PC Cable - by
This cable is used to connect an LX Navigation Colibri to 12V power and to a PC for
transferring waypoints to the Colibri or downloading flight logs from the
to a PC. The connector for connection to the PC is a DB-9f
connector. Two cables exit the DB-9f connector. Both the cable
to the RJ6/6 (6-conductor phone jack) connector (for the Colibri) and the power leads are 2 m long. The wiring
harness has a total of 3 connections:
- RJ6/6 (6-conductor phone jack), with 2 m (6.56 ft) cable -
Plugs into the Colibri for the power and data connections
- DB-9f, 9-pin female connector - for
connection to a PC
- Power leads - bare leads for
connecting to a 12V power source such as the
Pwr-12V-500mA wall plug or a 12V
battery. The 12V power converter is not included.
This cable's DB-9f 9-pin connector is
designed for connection to a PC's RS-232 serial port. However,
most new PCs don't have RS-232 serial ports. However, the
FTDI Chip USB Serial Adapter can be
used to add a serial port to any PC that has a USB port. It
works great with the Colibri.

This option allows the LX 5000, LX 7000, LX 7007, LX 8000 or LX 9000 to calculate wind speed
and direction more accurately. Details are available in the LX
8000 or LX 9000 manual

||Cable for connecting PC
to LX 7000, LX 7007, LX 8000
or LX 9000
This cable connects a PC to the small, round, panel mounted "PC
connector" found on the LX7000, LX7007, LX 8000 and LX 9000 wiring
harness. It has a
small round 5-pin female connector for connecting to the panel mounted
"PC connector" and a DB-9f connector for connecting to a PC serial port.
This cable is included in the box with the LX7000 and LX7007. It
is probably not included in the box with the LX 8000 and LX 9000 because
data is normally transferred to those units using an SD card of USB
Note: This cable is
designed to connect to a DB-9 9-pin RS-232 serial connector on a PC.
Most current PCs don't have 9-pin serial connectors, so a USB to serial
adapter will be required. I have tried many, and found many that
didn't work at all. I finally found one that works great with most
soaring instruments. It is the Keyspan USA-19HS Serial Adapter.

||Voice Module for LX
7007, LX 8000 and LX 9000
The LX Voice Module
was developed to make the LX 7007, LX 8000 and LX 9000 units even more user
friendly by providing voice warnings and information generated by the
built in voice synthesizer.
The LX Voice Module does not require the external power supply.
There are also no additional speakers necessary as the built in audio
mixer makes the existing vario speaker also available for the voice.
The aluminum black box (55 x 22 x 75 mm / 2.17 x 0.87 x 2.95 inches) may be installed anywhere in
the cockpit. Three digital inputs also allow connection of other
external sensors providing e.g. landing gear or air brakes status
The unit is powered and controlled via the LX system bus.
The existing speaker should only be reconnected from the LX
7007, LX 8000 or LX 9000 output to the Voice Module output. The unit
includes the audio mixer controlled by the LX 7007, LX 8000
or LX 9000
to reduce the vario volume during the Voice Module active
time. The mixer setting is controlled entirely by the pilot.
The LX 7007, LX 8000 or LX 9000 with FLARM option also provides
warnings to the Voice Module.

||Garmin GA 25 BNC GPS Antenna for Colibri,
LX20, LX5000, LX7000
Includes a 2.9 m (9.5 ft) cable with a BNC connector. A similar
antenna is included with the Colibri, LX7000 and LX7007. It is not
compatible with the LX8000.
I can shorten the cable to any length you
desire. I charge $19.95 for the new BNC connector and labor.
You can select the cable length when you place your order. There is also
an option for a BNC-RA BNC elbow
adapter for $9.95 (see drawing below). With the BNC elbow adapter the minimum
recommended antenna cable length for mounting the antenna on top of a Colibri is 8 inches (20.3 cm). Without
the optional elbow adapter 10 inches (25.4 cm) is the minimum recommended
antenna cable length for use with Colibri.
The BNC elbow can be used with some GPS and Radio antenna cables to
reduce the amount of cable space required at the point the antenna
connects to the device. It is very nice for use on the bottom of
the Colibri because it allows the use of a very short antenna cable.

Connector: 2.1 x 5.5 mm DC power plug.
Perfect for powering any soaring GPS, flight computer, flight recorder,
etc. Works great with a Colibri.
