300 Series Products
December, 2008 - New Hardware Version
This is a new, upgraded version of the 302. The new features
include:
- More robust flash memory, to hopefully
solve or at least minimize the rare but frustrating flight log security
failures.
- USB connector on the back of the 302, to
make it easy to connect to a PC.
- Improvements to the ENL (engine noise
level) hardware to solve a previous issue with the ENL recording system
Overview
The 300 series of soaring instruments is the ultimate modular, upgradeable
soaring instrument family. It offers a multitude of features in a very
small package. Below is a quick summary of the product family:

302 Direct Digital Variometer
with GPS and IGC Approved Flight Logger

Overview
The 302 DDV is the ultimate soaring instrument. It offers a multitude
of features in a very small package. The 302 is an extremely fast and
sensitive variometer with audio and averager, an altimeter, a speed-to-fly
director, a GPS with integral IGC approved flight logger, and much more.
New USB Port and Flash
Memory Upgrade

Cambridge has recently announced a new USB
port and flash memory upgrade that will be standard in all new 302 and 302A
units.
You can get your existing 302 or 302A
upgraded by contacting Cambridge directly at:
http://www.cambridge-aero.com.
Both upgrades can be done at the same time along with calibration of the
flight recorder for $175.
This is fantastic news. It will be very nice
to be able to download flight logs to a PC through the USB port - especially
since most new PCs don't have a serial port. It is also nice because it
shows that Cambridge is working to improve their products. The 302 will
continue to be a very popular instrument for many years to come.
Overview Video
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video with sound must be
worth a million. Below is a 13 minute overview of the Cambridge 300
Series Soaring Flight Instruments. It allows you to see and hear
all the functions of the 302. It is a great way to see if it is the
right vario for your glider. Or, if you already own one, it is a good
refresher course on how to use it. If you find it useful then please buy from me.
